Vernal Equinox

The first day of spring was lovely. I wanted to go out and take pictures of flowers, so I took Kate and Andy and went to Point Defiance. We got kind of a late start because Andy decided to take a really long nap, so we didn't get out there till about 5:00. (The light was probably better then, anyway. It was really sunny earlier.) Doug stayed home to grade papers.

Kate and Andy check out the daffodils.

(And other things.)

A nice lady offered to get a picture of the three of us together.

The attempt was amusing.

After that Kate wanted to go over to the duck pond.

She spotted these two redheaded widgeons in the crowd. We thought they were cool.

I think these signs are new. (Comma splice!) There were so many people there feeding the ducks. There were entire slices of bread floating whole and uneaten in the shallows, bobbing forlornly against the rocks.

I've always liked this tree. It's just so knobbly and interesting.

Next we had to stop by the Japanese garden.

These trees are just gorgeous every year.

Finally--on to the playground!

Andy on the swing.

It's hard to get a shot like this in focus!

Andy back at the car. "Nooooo! I don't want to go!"

Awww!

Today is quite a bit cooler, and spitting rain intermittently. I'm glad we got out yesterday! Ah, spring!

Spring has sprung,
The grass has ris;
I wonder where
The boidies is.
Da little boids
is on the wing,
Ain't that absoid,
Da little wings
is on da boid.

Here it's autumn, and late summer rains have ris'd the grass, and there are still plenty of boids about.

Yay for spring. I love those daffodils--how nice that there is a public place with such an amazing array to enjoy. Daffodils are my favorite spring flower.

Andy has the cutest faces.

SOOOO pretty! I have one daffodil almost blooming---tomorrow, maybe!

And, I have to say: this "Doug stayed home to grade papers" is why I am glad to be a librarian! ;)

Your pics are all fantastic, especially the ones of Andy at the end. My little girl always gets upset when we leave the park/pool/whatever fun place we happen to be at too. Is it wrong as a mom to say that they're adorable when they cry like that?!

great pics! I am shocked that it is now illegal to feed the ducks! Man I grew up doing that. who knew it was bad for them??!

Great pics! Spring is great! It's still feeling a little wintery here, but not too bad!

I didn't know it was illegal to feed the ducks! We were just at Riverfront Park in Spokane today, and the kids were asking if I had any bread to feed the ducks with.

But it's soooo much fun! Those poor ducks will have to learn to fend for themselves now, I guess!

So pretty. Love the knobby tree too. I just had to put the "Awww!" pic on my screen saver.

What a fun looking place. Looks like you guys had a good time. Loved the daffodils! Do you remember selling them at five points for some sort of fundraiser every spring, wish I could remember what it was for....

Beautiful day and beautiful children. I love you little boy's sad face. I'll bet his grandma would give him anything we wanted with that face.
