Porch Pics with Dad

(You never know what you're going to get, photographing these kids!)  Happy Father's Day!

Smile! It's Father's Day!

Attempting to get a picture of Doug and the kids after church. This can be tricky!

"Give Daddy a big kiss!"

Awwww!

Kate says, "He's funny!  And he's my dad!"  High praise.

Father's Day Fun

Father's Day was just as sunny as Mother's Day, but we didn't take these in the shade. Doesn't everyone look sunny? *squint*

This was Andy's first Father's Day in Primary, so he got to go up on the stand with the other kids to sing in Sacrament Meeting. He was pretty stage-struck, and didn't actually sing, but seemed to get a kick out of the experience.

Kate had a present for Dad that she made at school:

Yep, ice cream, Toys R Us, and playing Wii.  That's what Dad's all about.

Happy Father's Day!

A song for Father's Day!

Daddy Day

Kate made this for Doug in Primary.  She says it's a robot dinosaur.  That's its hand grabbing the "thank you."

I was thwarted by my family in my plans to get a Father's Day picture (I am, evidently, the only one who cares about such things).  So here's a favorite Daddy picture from a couple of years ago:

Happy Father's Day!

Attempting to get a picture after three hours of church:

We've been teaching Kate "I'm so glad when Daddy comes home" and "My Daddy is my favorite pal," so she could sing with the primary kids in Sacrament Meeting. She got the first one down fine (with motions--those are fun) and was doing pretty well on the second. I figured she'd be excited to be able to sing along. Well, she seemed excited enough to go up there, and she did do the motions, but she didn't sing at all. But we still thought she was awfully cute. :)

Doug said to me recently that, more than just being a dad, he loves being Kate's dad. Sometimes he'll watch her when she's sleeping, and he'll tell me how much he loves her, and I can just see him turn into a big puddle of goo. Our little girl sure knows how to melt Daddy's heart. I know he'll be a wonderful daddy to our new little one, too.

Father's Day

I hope all the daddies out there had a great Father's Day! At church they gave out candy bars. (For Mother's Day we got potted phlox plants. Mine isn't doing very well.) When the Primary kids went up to sing for the dads, Kate ran up on the stand too. Doug took her over to stand with the other kids. He said she wanted to sing the ABC song.

We got Doug a make-your-own-tie kit. Now he's trying to decide what to put on it. So many possibilities!

Father's Day

I love watching Doug and Kate play together. They are just so cute. Doug is a great dad. He reads her stories and makes up funny little songs (it's quite hilarious to hear "The Gingerbread Man" in various critical interpretations, like the Marxist reading or the feminist reading) and even lets her play with his cittern sometimes. It's fun to see how excited Kate is when Doug comes home. "Daddy" was one of her first words (along with "hi!"--she started saying them both right around the same time). Sometimes when we're in church she points up at the stand and yells "Daddy!" Here she's finding Daddy's nose.

This is my dad, piled on by most of his progeny. Barb was either a very small baby or not born yet. I was probably about 11. When Dad used to give us horse-back rides, or throw us up in the air and catch us, I always got to go first. He said it was easier to start with the heaviest one and work his way down.

Happy Father's Day to my daddy and Kate's daddy!
